The 1940s, 1950s and 1960s were a time when the UK had a thriving lingerie industry with many different and unusual brand names. Here is an ever-growing list of almost forgotten obscure British underwear brands.
Caprice.
Dorothy Lord. Walmer Manufacturing Co. Ltd., lingerie manufacturers based at Garrison Mill, Pilsworth Road, Heywood, Rochdale. Lingerie label date range using adverts: 1955 to 1974 approx. 'Dorothy Lord' (actually Doris Churchman) was the in-house designer at Walmer.
Fascinette, London. Lingerie maker. The only ad I have seen is one from 1953.
Greenock Brand. Lingerie label date range using adverts: 1947 to 1956 approx.
Grenitt Lingerie. Date range for Grenitt lingerie using adverts: 1932 to 1958, approx.
Handuc. Almost a complete mystery as a lingerie maker! I have seen adverts from as early as 1928.
